Twitch now requires you to use their Content Classification Label for Politics and Sensitive Social Issues if you're queer and try to be alive I guess. Sorry if you use ad revenue to survive queer streamers, Twitch wants to make sure you don't get shit now.
This is a major argument to run on systems like OwnCast to me. Though I understand monetizing that is still a huge challenge.
Fuck this corporate censorship. Twitch and Bezos can suck my medically incinerated nuts.
@literalgrill tfw existing is "political"
@literalgrill fucking corpo brain poisoning.
@literalgrill the inevitable end result of thinking that both the right and the left need to be treated the same for the sake of being "fair"
@literalgrill what the fuck is "sensitive" about queer rights? Guhhhh.
This feels like Bezos mullenwagging his way into his companies after doing it to WaPo last week. Fucking stupid. If someone wants to be pissed because I have "LGBTQIA+" as a tag for my stream they can just not watch it jfc.
What next, existing with neurodiversity?
@literalgrill@sakurajima.moe oh wow, they’re not even… trying to couch the language this time. They’re just straight up saying civil rights and gay people are not to be discussed. jesus.
@literalgrill@sakurajima.moe Tolerable if it were implemented fairly, but that's a pipe dream.
@literalgrill As written, the policy seems to only require that label if you're getting into a political discussion, like talking about legislation that affects us... But I can see how that could be abused, since some see queer expression and joy as inherently political even if you're not talking politics.
That said, my read of that policy is you should be just fine skipping that label unless you dive into a deep discussion of anti-lgbtq laws and such.
@baralheia @literalgrill Yeah, this strikes me as an obvious case of theory vs. practice waiting to happen. In *theory* things should work as you say, while in *practice* the kinds of people who somehow got white power emotes past the radar will inevitably call trans people who don't pass sufficiently "political" for streaming at all, and be believed.
"medically incinerated nuts" <3
@literalgrill There's this platform for discovering marginalized #Twitch streamers:
"Peer2Peer.Live is an opt-in discoverability tool for marginalized streamers and viewers to find each other through robust identity-based tagging"
https://peer2peer.live/
Might be a good idea to use things like that too if you are affected by the new rules.
