But here's the clincher, and if you wanted to write an historical #Yuri novel about Fukuko and Setsuko, this would be the centerpiece. On the set of a film in 1950, where Setsuko was playing a doctor and Fukuko her nurse, during a break Fukuko was looking tired, and Setsuko said, "Are you all right? Don't overdo it." Then she said, "Open your mouth. Here you go," AND SHE PUT A PIECE OF CHOCOLATE DIRECTLY INTO FUKUKO'S MOUTH. Since that day (75 years ago!), Fukuko has never eaten chocolate again, because, she says, "I don't want to ever forget that taste."

There's no way to straight-wash this story, folks.

5 Most important thing about worldbuilding to you?

I don't do world-building; I do scene-building. Pre COVID Japan is a preexisting constuct. I just use my interpretation of it. Kakuriyo, the shadowland, is an inconcistant place. I build each scene there to be interesting, strange, and consistant with the few rules that seem universal in Kakuriyo.

Most important: Colorful and interesting.
