US Pol, Anime Genitalia meme
In case this meme bleeds here or into the real world.
A right wing lady got bullied off Bluesky, and she wrote a horrible piece in the Atlantic about it being full of anime genitalia, and #AnimeGenitalia is trending. It is breaking my anime custom feed by people memeing it, or agreeing and hating on anime fans again...

@anianimalsmoe For the fact that people on BlueSky hating on anime fans kind of makes it not a great place.
And I still wonder why some think BlueSky is better than Mastodon (it's not) besides the bad things I hear about it and it lacking features. Also, one shouldn't really join Mastodon Social since it's just a poorly moderated server and base their whole experience just on that one server. Not to mention, Jack Dorsey is the same brainchild around Blue Sky who supports Elon's idea of getting rid of blocks in favor of Mutes. Believe it or not, Blue Sky initially didn't came with a blocking feature, until they added it in after some abusive behavior.
Not only that, it's interesting that you cannot view skeets without having an account. It's something that Elon tried to do, but had to backtrack.
(entirely not interested in Bluesky, it's bound to go into the same cycle of enshittification since it has to make money, somehow)

Ah, ok, this explains some of the hate of #AnimePfps in the US, at least. But making us the strawman for both the Left and the Right just.. horrible.

The mastodon self hosted model is the most sustainable $ solution, for sure. But the big server small server issue is painfully something that won't go away. Hashtagging as a habit is not easy for people to learn.
User managed Algorithmic feeds (new vs hot) ala-Reddit feels like a good in-between, that I see potential in.
Bluesky is also currently beta testing their version of federation, and feed algo servers are federated, in a way (I have disagreements with the architecture), so it should in the longer term run on the same model as the regular fediverse.
Personally, I'm just looking for ways to advertise without actually paying cash for my site. And running blueskyfeeds is just an opportunistic (about 2% market share) experiment.
