Hey does anyone use a Huion Kamvas Pro 20 with a screen protector? I could use some help on what kind of screen protector I should buy.
Thing is, I've been using my tablet without one and sadly I've noticed several scratches while drawing :/ I don't know when those happened but they're there. Help please?
Share if you can, please and thank you :)
I have managed to save and it is finally time to buy a drawing tablet with a screen. I would like to have a medium/big-sized one with a stand to place it inclined on the desk. I usually use the keyboard to do all the commands, so I don't care if the tablet has many or few buttons. But I want one that has many pressure points and that detects the inclination of the pencil so that the sensation is as realistic as possible. What do you recommend?
Hey Fedi,
Might be a bit of a stretch to ask but
Does anyone know of a drawing tablet display that manages to work in Android, Windows, and Linux? Or at least Android and a desktop OS?
Please boost

I got a drawing tablet a couple of days ago and I really wanted to be able to scroll with it (it only has 4 buttons). I saw that it might be possible on X11 with xsetwacom but I'm on wayland and I couldn't find any way to make it work. So I hacked this together. Idk if anyone would find this useful but I did see a few threads around while looking to solve this exact problem so here you go.

This might be interesting for you. I remember that you mentioned difficulties with #drawingtablet support in #Gnome. @whot implemented it.

Here's a very old (2010) piece I recently found on my blog, it was apparently for the (now defunct) #DrawingDay, done on a tiny (about A6), ancient #wacom #DrawingTablet (could never get used to them in the end).
Still like the atmosphere a lot.
Check out the blog for some info on the #RuneStone:
Talking about my personnal experience with pen displays - long post !
Getting a screen tablet is honestly one of the best purchases i made, and will probably never go back to screenless. I'm using it for all kind of things everyday but mostly for studies and art.
I was hesitating between 20+ inches and 16 in and ended up getting the latest, and i don't regret it at all! I find it much better because it takes less space on the desk (like with a 22 in it'll take most of your desk leaving little space for anything else, for a regular desk at least) - and for it's transportability, always traveling with mine and never got a problem with it taking too much space.
If you worry about the working surface of a 16 in to not be enough, you might want to look and compare the sizes according to your preferences, but to me 16 inches is just the perfect size and always had more space than needed for the tasks i do.
Now the design, i opted for one with customizable press keys which i already had with my old screenless (a XP-Pen Star 03), to me it's a must but this depends on personal preferences, many people use their desktop keyboard because they just prefer it.
Two other things i think is important to look at when purchasing a pen display: laminated surface and battery free pens (which is also valid for screenless)
If the surface of your screen isn't laminated, you're going to have a noticeable space between the input and your pen, which is not ideal. However note that even on laminated screens you're going to have a small space but way less noticeable (i can barely notice it on the Huion Kamvas 16).
I surely didn't cover all of the things, but these are the most important ones that come to mind ^^
And of course this is just me talking about my experience with drawing tablets, everyone got their own preferences and purpose for getting a pen display !
So yeah if you're looking to buy one for yourself, i hope this could be of any use or help at all :)
A minor update to this #XPPen Star G640 #DrawingTablet review on #Linux:
I mentioned the only minor gripe I had using it was that while it worked out of the box - if you're on a dual/more monitor setup, the tablet surface will interact with the entirety of all of your monitors instead of just your primary monitor. This was a non-issue on my #SteamDeck setup since I only use a single monitor for that. On my main #EndeavourOS/#ArchLinux based PC though I do use a dual monitor setup with it. The good news is, if you do use a dual monitor setup or more, there's an official driver by XP-Pen you could install from the #AUR called xp-pen-tablet
.
I installed it, restarted my PC, and now the XP-Pen Driver UI utility starts upon boot and through its nice GUI, I was able to easily configure the tablet to only interact with my primary monitor instead of both my monitors. For a cheap lil tablet to have THIS working THIS well on Linux, I couldn't be happier There are other configuration options I could tinker with in the app such as setting the pressure sensitivity of the pen, or what the buttons on the pen are binded to, but I just couldn't be bothered and really only needed this. Big W XP-Pen.

Hi Fedi, I'm looking for something to let me use my laptop as a display tablet for my desktop PC. Both computers run Windows (10 and 11, respectively) and both Parsec and Duet do exactly what I want, but only on paid tiers. VirtualHere doesn't expose the pen either via AES nor MPP. Any suggestions? #Parsec #Duet #VirtualHere #drawingtablet #AskFedi
Hello #DigitalArtist s.
I'm looking for a new drawing tablet (Pen Display) and was wondering which non-Wacom offerings are good and reliable. What devices have you had a good experience with?
@davidrevoy@framapiaf.org the tablet has arrived, and I can confirm that Krita on my Chromebook recognizes it (with pressure sensitivity) from the start, while Windows needs the drivers.
My son uses it much better than me... #DrawingTablet #Krita
@davidrevoy@framapiaf.org now I'm going for an Ugee S640, that explicitly states its ChromeOS compatibility. Stay tuned for exciting news #DrawingTablet #ChromeOS
@davidrevoy@framapiaf.org sigh, I had to return the tablet... Turned out that only XP-Pen G640 rev. B is compatible with both Windows and ChromeOS... And of course I've bought rev. A.
