Quite an unbelievable sky, a harbinger of things to come.
Good night, and good luck.

#Perseverance has now gone back to South Arm, where it had been 48 Sols ago, apparently to examine the rocks there more closely.

Looks like a huge petrified trunk of Martian sequoia that fell but is still rooted at its left side. This rock at Shoal Brook seems very unique to my IANAG eyes. Maybe the next stop for #Perseverance?

"This is an epic moment in Mars exploration!"
"... no extraterrestrial rover has driven out of such a huge crater as Jezero to see a whole new “continent” ahead."
"We are particularly excited because it is potentially some of the most ancient surface on the Red Planet. Let’s go explore it!"

Wow what a view captured by Perseverance just 8 hours ago. This is probably her new science site: Witch Hazel Hill.

Lac de Charmes
It's French, it's lovely, it's the name of Perseverance's future science target.
It's named after a reservoir of the "Canal entre Champagne et Bourgogne", quite a program!

Perseverance’s fifth campaign:
Northern Rim
6.4km into fundamentally new geology
"Taking about 3½ months and ascending 1,640 vertical feet (500 vertical meters), the rover climbed 20% grades, […] even tried driving backward to see if it would help — and has come through it all like a champ."
"The campaign starts off with a bang […] Witch Hazel Hill"
A MUST read.

#Perseverance has to climb about 170m and drive about 1km to reach the top of Jezero's rim. The slope in along this last 1km stretch is steeper than around Pico Turquino, so the pace will probably be slower.
In the last two drives the rover gained about 5m of altitude per drive. With that slow a pace it's going to take more than a month of solly drive to reach the top, which I believe is called A̶u̶r̶o̶r̶a̶ ̶P̶a̶r̶k̶ Lookout Hill.
And then… magic! 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐇𝐚𝐳𝐞𝐥 𝐇𝐢𝐥𝐥!
