I get that elves live in magical places, but I don't think Flamingos are the correct amazing animal for a lake in an elven forest. Unless someone can correct me on this.

"The flamingo's most characteristic habitats are large alkaline or saline lakes or estuarine lagoons that usually lack vegetation. Lakes may be far inland or near the sea.

A variety of habitats are used by flamingos: mangrove swamps, tidal flats, and sandy islands in the intertidal zone."

@karamergen
Don't know many bird specialists, but do you have any takes on Flamingos in Elven forests?

Public

@anianimalsmoe Elves have been changed and modified over the years quite a bit. From old Norse (and probably Celtic and a few others) to what Tolkien wrote to all the other fantasy works.

So what the hell, flamingos it is:)

@anianimalsmoe Yeah, it seems like an odd choice to me as well! Why not swans or egrets?

@anianimalsmoe I would agree on your assessment that it doesn't seem like a natural setting for flamingoes

however, some theorize that the flamingo with it's extremophile eating habits and exclusive habitat, think that the flamingo is what birthed the myth of the phoenix

so maybe it is a magic thing? apparently the natural diet is hard to replicate in IRL zoos so maybe it's a *magic lake* 🤔
