Russell Brand was always a bit loony, and perhaps rapey, but he has completely lost the plot now!

By happy coincidence, Alexei Sayle was recording an episode of “Strangers on a Train” from London to Hereford just as people were arriving for EMF. It’s live on the radio at 10.30am this coming Saturday, and will be available to listen/download after the broadcast.

I'm beginning my adventures in MicroPython in the hope that I'll have something interesting working on the Tildagon Badge for EMF2026. Here's a basic implementation of a clockface. Here's how to set the time on the badge. There's a hardware clock which should keep time between reboots. Install mpremote on your computer. Connect…

This was a bit of a labour of love - and something I wanted to get running during EMF Camp. I'm documenting in the hope it'll be useful for EMF 2026! Here's the end result: Background I'm going to assume that you have updated your badge to the latest firmware version. You will al…

1. A view of the night market at Null Sector, after all the merchants have left.
2, 3, 4. Lots of lasers and pretty lights shining over the lake (video to follow)
Null Sector was very quiet after the DJs had finished, the only sound that remained was the last of the people hanging around at the Cybar and.. the escape room..? Ignore what I said in the video, this was recorded at 2am, not 1am.. which makes it even more amusing. I'm just imagining a group of people trapped in the escape room, even long after EMF Camp has finished.
Sending a fax to @EMFFacsimile - Using the phone network at EMF you could also send faxes to any village that had a fax machine set up.
The final night of Null Sector
1. One of the hacky racers being driven around inside null sector, carrying a (presumably) empty box of club mate
2. Someone had been sticking fake plug sockets in places around the campsite where there definitely shouldn't be plug sockets. I remember finding another one in a sink next to the toilets as well.
3. The fluroclock was located inside Null Sector this year, someone had left the message "LGBT" on it.
4. Extreme Kits demonstrating lots of different DIY kits in the night market
here's a video of the sign, so you can get an idea of how dynamic it was
Gotta appreciate how cool the EMF 24 sign was this year, with flowing water, LEDs, bubbles and windmills (video to follow)
A group meowing session was in full swing outside the entrance of the lounge, everyone was encouraged to bring a Blåhaj with and meow meow meow meow, meow meow meow? meow!
Some heavy beats being dropped by duckbust3r next to the duck pond.
1. A giant version of rush hour in the maths tent, I remember spending hours playing this game when I was a kid.
2. A washing machine on wheels...? I might need a little bit of help for context on this one, I kept seeing it around the campsite and I'm pretty sure it did have the name of it stuck on the side, but I didn't get a photo of it. Either way, this entirely fits in with some of the many mad things you find at the campsite
3. Prizegiving for @FieldFX ~ alongside everything that was happening at camp, I helped organize a whole demoparty, which happened in the afternoon on Saturday. I unfortunately didn't get any photos/videos of the party itself since I was in charge of the compo machine and was focused on presenting the compos. The prizes were ceramics created by my parents.
4. There was some kind of shenanigans going on at the swap shop involving furries and orphan sources, this was too funny not to include here.
More delicious food from the volunteer kitchen, and some plant-based ice cream! ohhh I wish I could have more...
Some pics of the arcade, which I believe was lovingly curated by @CatherineFlick
I had a fun time volunteering to keep an eye on the cabinets and making sure they were always displaying what they were set up to display, it was also a nice opportunity to have a chat with some of the people who made the games and curious visitors who were there to enjoy the games.
As a former computer games art student, I love how the arcade was focused on indie games this year, in comparison to 2022 which was pretty much just retro arcade games I'd already seen at plenty of other locations. Don't get me wrong, I love retro arcade games, it's just good to see something different every once in a while, and you can actually talk to the people who made the games as well.
I'd also like to comment on the Marathon cabinet. If I wasn't so busy during the weekend I totally would have "wasted" 4 hours of my time pressing the buttons on that cabinet. I have the patience!!
Checking out the night market again. Here be dragons! and little lizards! also some very expensive head gear which I totally would have bought if I could afford it.
