Asking for boosts again
Sharing this again because we still haven't reached our goal, and I might end up increasing that a bit. I am unable to work and go to school simultaneously, due to my chronic pain/illness, it's just too hard on my body. That means I will have no income over the summer, and will have to figure out selling my jewelry. I want to be able to save some of the funds for her celebration of life, and not have it all end up going to bills.
Where we're at: cremation was fully covered, which was $1350. The most important thing! Right now any extra has gone to bills, and I am working to save as much as possible. It's hard to plan for a celebration when I am not sure what I am working with money wise. Dying is so expensive.
If you're local to Portland and would like to buy some of my handmade whimsigoth jewelry let me know, and that is another way you can help! I'll get some pictures up soon.
I still appreciate everyone that has helped so far in any way, it means so much to me!
And if you have time this afternoon (short notice!) there's a protest at the Portland Tesla dealership on Macadam Avenue from 3:45 – 5:15 pm
https://www.mobilize.us/mobilize/event/760108/
Some details:
"Meet us at Old Spaghetti Factory at 3:45 pm to walk over as a group or meet us at Tesla at 4 pm. We'll be there during rush hour for prime visibility, ending at around 5:15"
"Bring LARGE signs and noise makers. Chairs welcome if you'd like/need to sit"
On the MAX in #portland, and a young man sat near me and pulled out a Sony Discman, and plopped a CD into it.
There's already a National Day of Action planned for Portland, Oregon:

Any baseball fans here?
My cousins & I grew up with stories, photos & newspaper clippings in a photo album of the 1970s Portland Mavericks, all collected by a huge fan of theirs.
We admired their love of the game, their moxie, and their playfulness with the fans.
If you've seen 'The Battered Bastards of Baseball', you'll understand. If you haven't seen it, do, really.. it's that delightful a true story.
If you're looking for the whimsy, love of baseball, and community spirit in today's day and age....
Banana Shenanigans! They go all in on their playfulness, and I love them for it.
Report back from Rose City Counter Info:
In the Fall of 2024, several dozen trees in the Harborton Reliability Project area were spiked. Metallic and ceramic spikes were used, and between one to three spikes were placed in each selected tree.
We waited before sending this message in order to give time for legal advocacy groups to do their work, and also to let any traces of our presence decay into the loam.
Now, the project continues despite the efforts of the community, and the area threatened to be destroyed has grown.
It is now our time to get to work to defend forest park.
We will not let them take the earth from us.
Sincerely,
P.G.E. (Portlanders Getting Even)

I never learned what crazy construction process was going on inside of this random neighborhood house when we lived in #StJohns in 2016.
About a dozen cops showed up to the community free store again tonight. Before anyone had even arrived to set up, Jessie Burke, CEO and partner at The Society Hotel, was standing on the corner where folks usually set up with her husband speaking to a handful of police. Burke has a history of being hostile to the houseless community and those providing them resources. (In addition to everything in this article, she has countless posts on her instagram that are vile) https://www.portlandmercury.com/news/2024/05/16/47206194/county-commissioner-candidate-saw-more-than-40k-funneled-to-her-husband-by-a-board-she-oversees
People ended up setting up just around the corner from where the free store typically is on Thursdays. Eventually, the police followed and surveilled from across the street for a while and eventually left. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were thrown off by how many people there were.
I think tonight displayed a successful community defense. While the police were still busy in the initial location with some people who stayed back to argue with them and the police tried to figure out if people had given up, others were around the corner setting up. When I first approached the distro setup in the new area, I was surprised by how many people there were. Not just the usual distro folks and people seeking resources, but others there to support and help keep the distro going even in the face of realtime repression. It wasn’t an ideal location to setup by any means, but people thought quick and didn’t let that ridiculous police response stop the distro from going on.

Thursday free store is tonight!!
Of course there is no guarantee whether there will or will not be a police response to distro tonight, but this will be the first Thursday distro after last week’s escalation by portland police.
Come down, check it out, take what you need, help out, or just hang out. The people’s free library has tons of great zines and the librarians love having conversations about them. It’s a great place to meet people and more people keeps things safer for everyone.
#KidicalMassPDX March 22nd ride from Alberta Park to Fernhill Park, meet at 1pm, ride at 1:30. Celebrate spring by decorating bikes with flowers! #pdxBikes #BikeFun #Portland
It's art! It hangs on a wall while you hang with the artists
Is there someone here who knows how negative pickup works at Citizen Photo in Portland? Do you just go to the front of the store and look for last name, and grab your negs?
@alissaazar that’s for #Portland for today, the 11th yeah? Is there like any particular group organizing it? Trying to find something else online about it
