I just went to pick up a prescription at #CVS and I went to give them my new insurance info and they already have it. I am _certain_ no one in my family gave it to them. That is… disturbing.
Most people would probably be like, "Oh, how convenient," but I'm like, "Wow, there are all sorts of privacy issues here."

In the latest action, employees were instructed to sign a 4-pg letter ordering them to return all #USIP property while agreeing to forgo all future claims against the institute. It ordered them not to disclose any terms of the agreement in exchange for 1 month of #HealthInsurance & a monthly stipend paid for an unspecified period. Those who refuse to sign, the letter said, will lose all #benefits as of Monday.
If I could pass 1 law in the United States, it would be illegal for insurance companies to deny any valid claim.
The punishment for breaking this law would be a percentage of the company's profits, up to the imprisonment of those responsible, and the dissolvement of the corporation.

(for context, this stat was in response to UnitedHealth being fined $20.3 million for illegally denying claims)
Sales #tax is poisonous in all sorts of ways. They are popular with governments because they're relatively easy to collect. The vendor effectively becomes a #TaxFarmer.
#VAT is bad for the poor.
#SinTax on cigarettes and alcohol make the government complicit in encouraging poor health behaviour, which in turn destroys the logic of any tax-funded #HealthInsurance.
The #SouthAfrican #FuelLevy was originally intended to fund infrastructure - back in #Apartheid days. But from very early on, it was cynically diverted into the general fund.
‘ “It was heartbreaking," the former employee said. "When I went up to my computer, it was already locked down. I couldn't access anything. I'm still trying to reach out to #HR to find out, do I get a severance package? What is my #healthinsurance benefits? When does it end? Nobody knows anything.”’
