I just love #RetroDECK, I've been trying to convince others to use it over EmuDeck for such a long time now!
Switched from #EmuDeck to #RetroDeck and couldn't be happier. Better organised, more emulators running and a better experience.

If you haven't been using RetroDECK on your #SteamDeck, you should be.
It is by far my fav choice:
- more stable releases
- emulators, ROMs, bios, files, mods, EVERYTHING runs from a SD card
- (now) allows SRM to add your fav games individually to the games list on your Steam Deck
Ahhhhh it just makes me happy.

I'm just thinking out loud here, but are there many who enjoy #emulation via #PCGaming who might want to do a bit of a weekly or monthly play-along together?
Like a book club for older games?
I know for the #SteamDeck community there is #RetroDECK and #EmuDeck but for desktops themselves the options are many.
Might be nice to all decide on a game to play, then share our thoughts on it via a #?
These things rarely work, or keep up steam...but thinking aloud, it could be fun!
I use #RetroDECK for my emulation (I prefer all of it to be stored and run from one place: ROMs, emulators, bios, mods, etc - all on the micro SD card), but when I have any work to do for it like managing files or changing my game art etc I use my dock and a keyboard/mouse.
FAR easier that way!
Things to keep in mind! -
Run something like #RetroDECK (my fav) or EmuDeck to emulate SO much. My Switch library now lives on my Deck, not my Switch!
#GOG games run (alongside #EpicGames and Amazon's) through #HeroicGamesLauncher (I own like a handful of games on Steam, but thousands on GOG!)
Mods are a breeze, you can modify the UI to look as crazy or understated and clean as you want with things like Decky Launcher.
Desktop Mode is literally a Linux computer. SO GOOD!

If anyone has any recommendations, feel free to leave them in a comment. As far as #gaming goes, the old PlayStation games are still a mystery to me for the most part.
Excited to jump into the Spec II mod for Gran Turismo 4, though! I'm on a bit of a cars/racing games kick lately. Even tho I'm more a rally girl, this still has me curious!!!
The thing that makes me happiest is seeing comments and shares on this video saying they're going to try it!
Its also a lovely update by #RetroDECK. i love that SRM is now employed inside, so you can add your fav games to the regular game library in Steam!!!
Oh, I definitely AM that lazy, though they were released long before my time. I have played the opening of the first a few times, just when setting up emulators and looking at good old 3D games for #RetroDECK
It hasn't really caught me, but I appreciate the work they put in!
For PS1 (for me!) it goes:
1) Metal Gear Solid
2) Final Fantasy VII
3) Colin McRae Rally 2
I'm 100% going to recommend the #SteamDeck because...well look over my profile and you'll see it is where I do the bulk of my gaming!
- the #Steam library
- #GOG and #EpicGames (also Amazon!) titles run perfectly via Heroic Games Launcher or Junk-Store
- emulate 10s of 1000s of games with something like #RetroDECK
- play native open-source Linux games, or romhacks, itch.io titles
It does SO much, before you account for game mods!
But for the 'next gen' of AAA? Not well suited!

RetroDECK takes longer between each update, and in so doing ensures each release is as stable as possible (you'll notice EmuDeck breaks every few updates)
RetroDECK stores everything: ROMs, bios, emulators, mods etc on a SD card (if you so choose) which is nice. It's good knowing its all in ONE place and compartmentalized - rather than scattered in a billion places on your SSD (like EmuDeck does)
I reaaaaally prefer #RetroDECK over Emu!
(In fact, #RetroDECK still has #Ruijinx in their program, since its not illegal. If you want Yuzu, you can add it as a non Steam game SUPER simply!)
I think as far as usability, and making things easier? #RetroDECK has it for me with their 'configurator' - it simplifies a VERY complex menu system that RA has.
So many people have wanted RA to re-do their system for years now (but...I mean obv they're the backbone of all emulation, so I can see why you opt for it!)
If it's JUST Neo Geo, you can either add FBNeo to your #SteamDeck just itself - as an independent emulator and run things that way. it'll be the 'lightest' install, and you won't be caught up with anything else taking space you won't use!

#RetroDECK however comes with the bonus of the 'radial dial' which you can use to, enhance your experience I guess - with built-in hotkeys. It also won't store data on your SSD, since it all lives on the SD card.

RetroDECK runs everything: roms, emulators, bios, saves, mods - the whole lot from a SD card, saving your SSD from data stored there.
Speaking of, the data from EmuDeck gets stored in NO NICE WAY. It's everywhere, in every nook!
RetroDECK only updates periodically - when the emulators are stable and worth transitioning to new versions. Unlike EmuDeck which has frequent issues because of this.
It's my choice!
Using #RetroDECK on my #SteamDeck to emulate anything from the beginning of consoles up to even the #PS3 and #Xbox - or my favorite - the Nintendo Switch makes me so happy.
Plus, the UI of RetroDECK is SO DAMN PRETTY!

Some nice news about the #NintendoSwitch emulator called #Ryujinx on my fav emulation suite on the #SteamDeck:
#RetroDECK developer Xargon confirms they will update Ryujinx to the latest version for users - and will not be removing it from RetroDECK.
Nice to see, as #Yuzu was removed from it when that was taken down.
#emulating and #gaming in 2024 is an interesting case...with a LOT of sad announcements recently, partocularly to so with #Nintendo
