Yes a hybrid may be less adapted to current conditions, but the climate heating is revising the habitats available and erasing some while creating new ones. So a growler bear may be better adapted to a future habitat. I believe hybridization is a normal part of evolution, just one method of adaptation to a dynamic system.

I'd like to introduce you all to Fritter! This is Grizzly 1063 in Grand Teton National Park. I had an incredible encounter, watching her for about two hours last week as she ambled through a meadow near Pilgrim Creek. As she got closer I got in my car, and she walked right past! Took this image through the window.
